Seizou Kawaguchi is a professional woodcraft artist specializes in the excavating method. He opted to take his Bachelor’s Degree in crafts and was especially drawn to the woodcraft during his school days. He started working in a joinery shop after completing his degree and further developed his skill and technique in woodworking for 35 years.
His creative beginnings started when his artwork was exhibited for Japan’s traditional crafts exhibition in 1992. He has been accepted at the exhibition since then and has achieved a number of prizes to date. In 2020, He received the Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon for his work.
