Ando is based in the nature-rich Obara region of Toyota, Aichi, home to the culture of Japanese traditional papermaking, creating work of arts using a traditional decorating technique called “Kinma” with a base made of washi paper and urushi lacquer, “Shitai”. He is pursuing modern and fresh expression in his own work.
